About Aaron Peirsol

Born in 1983 in Irvine, California, Aaron Peirsol is a 5-time Gold Medalist and World Record Holder in men’s swimming. Peirsol was first introduced to the world during the 2000 Summer games in Sydney, Australia, where, at the age of 17, the young swimmer took home a silver medal in the 200-meter backstroke. During his distinguished professional swimming career, Peirsol won a total of 36 medals in multiple major international competitions. He specialized in the backstroke and currently holds the world record in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke (long course). In 2011, at the age of 27, Peirsol announced his retirement from professional swimming, noting: “I ended up doing everything I set out to do.”
